A teenage girl and her adult boyfriend have been arrested on suspicion of murder and accessory to murder, respectively, after a Fresno man’s body was found in a dry canal bed earlier this month.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 12, officers found the body of 20-year-old Sergio Bonboster, of Fresno, in a dry canal bed in the area of Hughes and Emerson Avenues. Bonboster was found to have been stabbed to death, police said.

On Wednesday, October 20, detectives spoke with Bonboster’s roommate, 20-year-old Lawrence Madrid, and learned that he and Bonboster had gotten into a physical altercation at their apartment and, at some point, Madrid’s girlfriend allegedly stabbed Bonboster multiple times.

Madrid and his girlfriend, whose name is being withheld due to her being 17, were both taken into custody. Madrid’s girlfriend faces a charge of murder and Madrid himself a charge of accessory to murder.
