An officer-involved shooting took place in an Anaheim residence, resulting in the death of a homicide suspect.  No officers were injured in the incident.

At about noon on August 31st, Anaheim police were called to a residence in the 2400 block of West Greenleaf Avenue after a man called in to report that he had been shot.  When officers arrived at the location, they went inside to find the shooting victim, 61-year-old David Erickson of Anaheim, already deceased.

“Officers were then confronted by an armed suspect, 55-year-old Robert Nelson, also of Anaheim,” says the release.  “An officer-involved shooting occurred and at least one police officer fired their weapon.”

The Anaheim Police Department SWAT team was called in to replace the initial responding officers.  Nelson was confirmed to be deceased.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is in the process of investigating the officer-involved shooting.  Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation to discover a motive for the apparent homicide.
