Man booked on suspicion of murder in marijuana grow site shooting

A Mariposa County man has been booked on suspicion of murder following a shooting at an illegal marijuana grow site, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives began investigating after a shooting reportedly broke out following a dispute among growers at multiple illegal marijuana sites in the area of Stumpfield Mountain Road on Saturday, July 10, leaving one dead and two others injured.

By Thursday, July 15, detectives had identified the deceased victim as 44-year-old Able Alvarez of Modesto.

50-year-old Miguel Alcazar — one of the individuals injured in the shooting — was identified as the primary suspect in Alvarez’s killing. Once treated at hospital and medically cleared, Alcazar was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.
