“On July 17th, 2021, at approximately midnight, Redwood City Police Officers responded to 1405 Marshall Street on a report of a carjacking. The driver and passenger (victim) parked in front of the apartment building, and the driver exited the vehicle to go into the complex.

While the passenger remained in the vehicle, he was approached by a suspect, later identified as Gerardo Santana, with a gun who forced him from the vehicle and drove off, last seen S/B Marshall towards Chestnut.

At 2:46 AM, Menlo Park Police Officers located the stolen vehicle behind 3698 Haven. When they attempted to contact the driver, he fled on foot. Officers from Menlo Park PD and Redwood City PD conducted a search of a homeless camp nearby and located Santana hiding under a trailer.

He was positively identified by the victim and arrested without incident.  Santana was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for carjacking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anyone that may have additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Nick Perna at 650-780-7672, or the Redwood City Police Department’s tip line at 650-780-7110.
