A Crescent City man has been arrested on suspicion of downloading and possessing child pornography, according to police.

In late May, police were alerted by the Internet Crimes Against Task Force that an image of suspected child porn had been viewed by an IP address in Crescent City. Police began an investigation and ultimately executed a search warrant at the home of 26-year-old Jesus Portillo, as well as his workplace.

Police say digital storage devices recovered from both locations were ultimately found to contain additional child pornography.

Portillo, who was not contacted during the initial investigation because he was out of town at the time, was arrested on June 7 and booked at the Del Norte County Jail.
