“On Monday May 24, 2021, at approximately 4:37 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Mission Station responded to the 200 block of Eagle Street for a report of a hot prowl burglary. Officers arrived on scene and met with the 62-year-old victim/homeowner.

\The victim said he heard a noise coming from the front of his home. When he went to inspect the noise, he observed an unknown suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Andrew Zamora of San Francisco, on his enclosed front porch. The victim confronted Zamora who was armed with a large blade. Zamora threatened to kill the victim. The victim was able to distract Zamora and safely get back inside his home. The suspect said that Zamora then fled on foot.

Responding officers searched for Zamora and located him on the roof of a building on the 100 block of Yukon Street. Officers spoke with Zamora, but he refused to surrender himself. Officers from the SFPD Hostage/Crisis Negotiations Team arrived on scene and took over negotiations.

After several hours of continued negotiation, Zamora peacefully surrendered to police and was taken into custody without further incident. Zamora was later transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked on charges of, burglary (459 PC), criminal threats (422 (a) PC), resisting arrest (148 (a) (1) PC).

While an arrest has been made, this remains an open investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD 24-hour Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.”
