Just after midnight on May 17th a disturbance occurred on 9th Street in Westwood. Deputies arrived to see about “a male subject yelling in the area.”

Apparently the male tried to break into a residence before being scared off by the homeowner. The suspect then broke into a nearby home where a family of four lived.

The homeowner there reported that he had been in an altercation with 34-year-old Ryan Bauer. Deputies went into the house. Bauer was barricaded in a pantry which he blocked with a couch.

Bauer had destroyed furniture in the house and was taken into custody after ” a short standoff.”

The “erractic and extremely combative” suspect gave the appearance of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The suspect was flown to a hospital in Reno for observation. He will be booked on charges of robbery. vandalism, burglary, false imprisonment, resisting and parole violation. He will not be offered bail.
