The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of a man suspected of assaulting two of his family members.

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 13th, deputies were called to a residence on Main Street in Castella, where 30-year-old Curtis “CJ” Nelson Bartoo had allegedly assaulted two of his family members to such a degree that they ultimately had to be hospitalized.

By the time Shasta and Siskiyou County deputies and CHP officers made it to the scene, however, Bartoo had already fled, reportedly threatening further violence if the victims tried to leave.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bartoo has a history of drug abuse and violence. He is currently at large and wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury, criminal threats, and false imprisonment, in addition to a felony warrant for another incident of violence not connected to this case.

Anyone who believes they have information on Bartoo’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office has stressed that Bartoo is considered dangerous and is not to be approached.
