Turlock Police: Woman accused of kidnapping her non-custodial child

A Turlock woman was recently arrested on suspicion of kidnapping her child of whom she does not have custody, according to police.

Late on the night of Sunday, May 9, officers responded to the 600 block of Geer Road on a report of a kidnapping in progress. The child had reportedly been visiting a relative when the mother, identified as 26-year-old Alisha Gonzalez, arrived and attempted to take the child in her car.

Police say another adult relative got in the car to prevent Gonzalez from leaving alone with the child, but that Gonzalez still drove away and later pushed this relative out of the car.

Information on Gonzalez and the vehicle was broadcast to multiple surrounding agencies and, on the morning of Monday, May 10, Gonzalez and the child were found with Gonzalez’s vehicle at Lake Don Pedro.

Gonzalez initially barricaded herself inside the vehicle but was eventually taken into custody, police said. The child was unharmed.

Gonzalez was later booked on suspicion of child concealment and kidnapping.
