Ontario Man Arrested for Murdering Roommate

After a brief pursuit and an officer-involved shooting, an Ontario man has been arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly murdering his roommate.

The murder occurred on May 1, 2021. A warrant was issued, and 34-year-old Antonio Valdez was located and arrested three days later.

Ontario Police Officers were on surveillance in Los Angeles at about 4:39 PM on May 4th in order to find and arrest the alleged murderer. When they spotted him getting inside a vehicle, they attempted to pull him over, but he refused. A brief chase ensued, resulting in a car collision between Valdez and a parked vehicle in the 100 block of East 66th Street. “Valdez then exited his vehicle holding an assault rifle and began to point it at an Ontario Police Officer,” states the release. “An officer involved shooting occurred in which one Ontario Police Officer fired his handgun.” No one was injured during the shooting.

Valdez fled once again but was finally apprehended, along with the assault rifle, handgun, ammunition, and body armor in his possession.  He was captured with help from officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Newton Division.

Valdez received treatment in a local hospital due to the traffic collision. After he was released, he was booked into the West Valley Detention enter on murder charge.

“The Officer who fired his weapon has 5 years of experience with the Ontario Police Department,” according to the release. “He has been placed on three days of paid administrative leave, which is standard department practice.”
