Petaluma Police: Domestic violence suspect surrenders after barricading himself in victim’s home

A Petaluma man was recently arrested in connection to an alleged domestic violence incident, according to police.

On the evening of April 29, officers responded to a report of domestic violence on the 900 block of Grouse Lane. The victim told officers en route that the suspect — later identified as 26-year-old Nicholas Adrian Dale — had broken into her house and that she had barricaded herself and her children in a bedroom.

Officers arriving on scene reportedly spotted Dale closing the garage door, after which he then barricaded himself inside the house. After several failed attempts to establish contact with Dale, SWAT and Hostage Negotiation personnel responded to the scene.

Negotiators were ultimately able to establish contact with Dale and convince him to come outside, at which point he was taken into custody without further incident.
