Children Injured in DUI Crash

“Merced – On March 31st, 2021 at approximately 8:21 PM, Merced Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of E. 21st Street for a traffic collision.
Amy Saetern (21) was identified as the driver of one of the involved vehicles. Officers determined that Saetern was under the influence alcohol and performed poorly on the standard field sobriety tests.
Two of the occupants in Saetern’s vehicle were children; ages 3 and 4. The children sustained minor head and facial trauma and were transported to the emergency room for medical care. Both the children are in stable condition.
Saetern was not injured in the traffic collision. She was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of felony driving under the influence and felony child endangerment.
Please do not drink and drive, especially with children in the car.”
