Deputies responded to the location and contacted two individuals, identified as 37-year-old John Wesley Buckhanan and 32-year-old Ellene Slaybaugh (both of Ceres), who’d been occupying a trailer that was later discovered to have been stolen out of Stanislaus County.

Deputies then conducted a search of the trailer and surrounding area, reportedly finding numerous tools allegedly stolen from the same victim. The victim later drove out to the property and, after positively identifying the items, was able to recover them.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies also located a handgun, short-barreled shotgun, various rifle parts, ammunition for various weapons, and small amounts of methamphetamine and heroin.

Buckhanan was arrested and booked on numerous charges related to the stolen property and other items, as well as parole violation, while Slaybaugh was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was later released per the state’s $0 bail order.
