Lakeport Burglary Investigation: Suspect Arrested Following Apartment Burglary

LAKEPORT, CA  — Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Matthew Wratislaw on Monday, March 30, 2026 during a burglary investigation. During the investigation, a search was performed at an apartment complex on Lakeshore Boulevard in Lakeport. The arrest occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. while deputies were conducting follow-up efforts to locate Wratislaw, who had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was a suspect in several burglary and theft-of-utilities investigations.

During a search of the property, deputies noted a partially open rear sliding glass door and a window with the screen removed on separate units. While the remaining units appeared secure and showed no signs of forced entry, the property owner granted consent for an interior search. Inside one unoccupied unit, deputies found food and cooking items, suggesting recent habitation.

Wratislaw was eventually located inside a locked utility and laundry room after the property’s maintenance manager provided access to the space. He was taken into custody without incident. Following a statement of his rights, Wratislaw reportedly told deputies he had been staying in the utility room for about one month and admitted to entering multiple units without the owner’s permission.

Wratislaw was booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility on a felony burglary charge (PC 459) in addition to his outstanding warrant.

Public records indicate Wratislaw is a repeat offender in Lake County, with a history of arrests for various crimes, including prior burglary offenses.
