A Lake County man was arrested on suspicion of numerous weapons violations following a traffic stop on Sunday, December 29th.

Just before 2:15 PM, a Clearlake officer on patrol spotted a black 2001 Toyota Echo turning onto Highlands Way from Old Highway 53 at high speed and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and, as he approached, noticed the driver reaching down toward the floor of the vehicle. He opened the door and ordered the driver — 18-year-old Jesus Munoz-Griego — out of the car, along with his passengers.

It turned out Munoz-Griego didn’t have a valid driver’s license and he was placed under arrest.

The officer then searched the vehicle and reportedly found a loaded black Tec-9 with the serial number scratched off lying on the floorboard in a bag next to a large knife. Additional rounds of ammunition and a glass meth pipe were also found in the vehicle.

Munoz-Griego has since been booked at the Lake County Jail.
