Clearlake Police have announced the arrest of a man suspected in two alleged rape cases.

In late October, the Police Department’s Investigations Bureau began looking into two accusations of rape, one involving a minor.

Going off a description provided by the victims, investigators identified 34-year-old Romondis Tyron Thompson, who is already under Post-Release Community Supervision status, as the primary suspect in both cases.

On October 26, police caught up with Thompson, who led them on a brief vehicle pursuit, then tried to flee on foot before ultimately being arrested. Police say he was also driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Thompson remains in custody.
