Originally published as a Santa Rosa Police Department press release –

In the beginning of January 2021, detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Narcotics Team initiated an investigation into narcotics trafficking by a Sonoma County resident.  The subject, later identified as Edgar Ortega Aguilar (38 years old) was suspected of selling methamphetamine in the City of Santa Rosa and surrounding Sonoma County areas.  It was learned through the investigation that Aguilar was using two separate addresses in Santa Rosa to aid him in his narcotic trafficking.

On Monday, February 22, 2021, at approximately 2:00pm detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department contacted and detained Aguilar in front of his residence, in the 2100 block of Waltzer Rd.  Pursuant to a search warrant, the residence was searched, specifically areas Aguilar had control over.  Inside a bedroom a large safe was located and it contained a large amount of suspected methamphetamine.  There were 18 individual bags of methamphetamine with a total weight near 70 pounds.

A search of the second residence was conducted in the 200 block of Darek Dr, where Aguilar also rented a room.  The search revealed over $23,000 in cash and additional methamphetamine.  There were other items indicative of drug sales in both rented rooms by Aguilar, such as scales and packaging materials.

Aguilar was transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for possession for sale of methamphetamine.
