Calaveras County authorities have arrested two people and seized a notable amount of drugs in two separate incidents in early February.

Just before 1 PM on February 4, a deputy patrolling the downtown Valley Springs area tried to pull over 46-year-old Donald Sheets after reportedly watching him speeding and crossing the center line.

Authorities say Sheets pulled over in front of a random house and ran up the driveway, attempting to hide contraband in his waistband as he went. Deputies later confiscated said contraband, which turned out to be just over 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two smoking pipes, and several credit cards that did not belong to him.

Sheets was ultimately arrested and booked on numerous drug-related charges, as well as charges of resisting or obstructing a peace officer, dissuading a witness, and attempted destruction of evidence.

Later that night, around 11 o’clock, a deputy and his K-9 partner came across a suspicious vehicle parked near the Post Office in Burson. The occupant, identified as 49-year-old Jennifer Erin Walker, turned out to have a felony warrant for possession of dangerous drugs and was taken into custody. The deputy also searched the vehicle and located just over 26 grams of methamphetamine.

Walker is being held on $55,000 bail.
