Gang-Member Massive Bust – Large Arms Cache, Drugs, and Stashed Cash

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – A gang detail consisting of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF) with an assist by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team visited two residences on the 19000 block and the 18000 block of Ford Avenue.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Gang Task Force arrived with search warrants in-hand at 5:00 AM on 02/03/2021.

Officers seized “approximately 65.0 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 24.0 grams of suspected cocaine, 8.9 grams of suspected psilocybin (mushrooms), several hundred Xanax pills, and several thousand miscellaneous pills,” said Sergeant Paul Heredia. Also located and collected were “46 illegally-possessed firearms including multiple firearms that had altered serial numbers or were illegally manufactured and absent of serial numbers.”

Arrested was Desert Hot Springs resident Robert Ramos (24) – a convicted felon and documented criminal street-gang member – for Possession of Narcotics for Sale, Possession of Narcotics While Armed, Felon in Possession of Firearms, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Prohibited Firearms. Also seized were multiple previously-reported-as-stolen firearms, along with over $150,000.00 in cash.

During the service of the search warrants Gang Task Force Officers “also arrested Tyler Murray, (26) of Desert Hot Springs for Possession of Narcotics for Sale, Possession of Narcotics While Armed, Illegal Manufacturing of Firearms, Possession of Prohibited Firearms, Committing a Felony While on Bail, Operating a Drug House, and Child Endangerment,” said Sgt. Heredia.

Ramos and Murray were booked under File Number GE210340001 at John Benoit Detention Center, in Indio.
