“At about 8:00 AM this morning, Officer Juarez spotted an Audi swerving and driving erratically near Beamer Street and College Street. Officer Juarez attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled.
The driver, 27-year-old Oakland resident Jaime Amezcua, led officers on a six minute pursuit through town, reaching speeds of around 60 miles per hour, while violating numerous traffic laws. Amezcua stopped near Freeman Park and fled on foot to a yard near the post office. Officers surrounded the yard and subsequently took Amezcua into custody.
The passenger in the Audi, 33-year-old Oakland resident Gerardo Del Toro, was also arrested.
Drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, hash oil, over 100 hydrocodone pills and over $2,000 in cash were seized as evidence during the investigation.
Amezcua was booked for charges associated to the pursuit, fleeing the vehicle, and narcotics sales. Del Toro was booked on charges related to narcotics sales and possession of burglary tools.”
