FREMONT— A habitual criminal is in custody on weapons charges and for outstanding burglary warrants. He is one of two suspects who allegedly crashed through the front doors of a liquor store and commenced stealing items.

Jeremy J. Ferreira, 37 of Livermore, has been in custody since he was booked into Santa Rita Jail on December 2. Ferreira is being held in lieu $100,000 bond, pending a court hearing on January 5.

Ferreira is suspected of driving a pickup truck through the front of Meadow Square Liquor Store, located at 41200 Blacow Road. The incident occurred on November 16 and the items reported stolen included lottery tickets.

The stolen pickup truck was found abandoned several blocks away by Fremont detectives. The suspects left behind evidence enabling investigators to identify Ferreira.

Four days later, an unidentified suspect cashed in a winning lottery ticket in Hayward. He was questioned and released, pending further investigation.

Ferreira was later located driving along Greenville Road in Livermore and arrested. Fremont detectives found a loaded firearm inside Ferreira’s backpack, an additional loaded magazine, and loose ammunition.

The case remains open. Ferreira was booked on weapons charges and for burglaries in Mountain View. He presently faces charges for possession of a concealed firearm, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Ferreira has prior convictions for burglary, forgery, possession of controlled substances and receiving stolen property. He also has prior arrests for assault, narcotics sales, and vehicle theft.

The liquor store crash and associated thefts remain under investigation. Anyone with information can call Fremont detective Tyler Layfield at 510-790-6900 or email tlayfield@fremont.gov.
