One arrested for attempted murder shooting, another for obstructing

“On December 9, 2020, at approximately 0952 hours, the Banning Police Department received 911 calls in reference to shots fired in the area of Almond Way and Nicolet Street, in the City of Banning, County of Riverside.

Officers responded and located a crime scene and a victim. Detectives of the Banning Police Department, along with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, conducted an investigation that led to identifying Willie Scott (26) as the suspect in this case.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department S.W.A.T. responded to the location and conducted a search of where the suspect was last seen. Scott was contacted, taken into custody, and booked into the Riverside County Jail for the charge of Attempt Murder.

**During the course of the investigation, a second suspect was found hiding from S.W.A.T. Officers. That suspect was identified as: David Aleman (26). Several illegal firearms were also found stashed at the location.

Aleman was arrested on charges for assisting Scott in hiding from Law Enforcement, possessing illegal weapons and obstructing and delaying Peace Officers. Aleman was transported and booked into the Riverside County Jail for his charges.
