CALEXICO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol and Mexican authorities seized narcotics on their respective sides of the border during a binational mirror patrol on Monday morning.

A binational mirror patrol is a coordinated event in which authorities on both sides of the border conduct operations to combat transnational criminal organizations along the international boundary between Mexico and the United States.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m., near the intersection of Heber Avenue and First Street. Agents working in the Calexico downtown area found two electrical-tape wrapped packages lying on the ground. During the same mirror patrol, Mexican authorities made their own seizure of narcotics near the Mexicali, Baja California downtown area.

The seized packages on the United States side yielded a positive result for the characteristics of methamphetamine when tested with a narcotics test kit.  The total weight of the methamphetamine discovered was approximately 1.1 pounds with an estimated value of $2,750.

The agents seized and transported the packages back to the Calexico Border Patrol Station for further processing.

El Centro Sector turned over the narcotic packages to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.”
