Kern County Sheriff: Two arrested on drug charges following welfare check

“On 10-5-2020 at about 1700 hours, deputies were dispatched to the 21000 block of Golden Hills Boulevard in Tehachapi, to check the welfare of 55-year-old Edward Hughes who was possibly under the influence of methamphetamine. Deputies had prior information that Hughes was selling methamphetamine from the apartment. Hughes is on probation and is subject to search for illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

During a search of the residence, deputies located about 185 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 85.6 grams of marijuana, 7 methamphetamine smoking pipes, and 4 scales. Hughes and 53-year-old Stephanie Alexander were arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility for several charges including possession of drugs and drug sales.”
