“On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit was tasked to investigate an alleged rape that occurred within the City of Brawley.

The victim described the assailant as a Brawley Police Officer. With cooperative efforts from the Imperial County District

Attorney’s Office, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the Brawley Police Department, sufficient probable cause was established to place Officer Ricardo Valdez under arrest for multiple felony charges including 261(a)(3) PC, 243.4(a) PC and 459 PC and a misdemeanor charge of 149 PC.

Officer Valdez was taken into custody by Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Investigators on Friday, July 3, 2020, and booked at the Oren Fox Detention Facility.”
