DUI suspect allegedly tried to cycle her way out of trouble

A Sonoma County woman was booked for DUI after allegedly leading police on a brief pursuit with a bicycle, according to CHP press release.

This past Sunday evening, an officer responded to southbound US-101 near Lakeville Highway on a report of a pedestrian attempting to cross lanes of traffic.

The officer spotted the individual, an adult female, standing on the shoulder. Upon seeing the officer, she reportedly tried to flee first on foot and then on a bicycle, crossing multiple lanes of traffic and ignoring numerous commands to surrender.

The officer activated his lights to stop oncoming traffic and was fortunately able to use his vehicle to direct the woman toward the oncoming Petaluma Boulevard South exit, at which point he was able to get out and stop her.

The woman, whose identity as not been released, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI on a bicycle, delaying/resisting arrest, and evading.
