Petaluma Police Investigate Vandalism at Local Fairgrounds

PETALUMA, CA — “On May 6th, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Petaluma Police Department dispatch center received a report of a vandalism where an unknown individual broke a window of the livestock office at the Petaluma Fairgrounds.
An officer responded to the scene and reviewed video surveillance which captured the act of vandalism. Upon reviewing the surveillance, the officer determined the unknown suspect, approached the window, and hit the window with what appeared to be a hammer causing it to shatter. The unknown suspect broke the window on May 6th at approximately 8:20 p.m. The damage and cost to replace the window rises to the level of felony vandalism.
The unknown subject was wearing all dark clothing with a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a plastic bag. See attached video.
On April 17, an unknown suspect broke the same window of the Livestock Office that had been previously repaired following an earlier incident. Despite an investigation, the Police Department was unable to identify the individual responsible.
On May 4, an unknown suspect intentionally discarded numerous two-inch nails and broken glass on the roadway near the new pickleball courts at the Petaluma Fairgrounds. The property manager discovered the debris and promptly cleared the area before any vehicles were affected.
The Police Department is actively investigating these suspicious incidents and acts of vandalism. We encourage anyone who has information regarding these incidents to call Officer Reid Daut at (707) 781-1208.
Officers have been conducting extra patrols of the Petaluma Fairgrounds and we have been deployed video surveillance cameras in the area. In coordination with other city departments, efforts are underway to further enhance security, prevention, and detection measures on the Petaluma Fairgrounds.
