Investigators learned that the victims met their assailant in the parking lot—intending to purchase an assault rifle. But instead of purchasing a firearm they were murdered.

An argument erupted before the transaction was completed. The victims attempted to flee. Multiple rounds were fired striking the driver Palmer and Kline seated in the passenger seat.

Ronyae M. Haywood, 27 of Oakland, faces two murder charges and 26 weapons-related charges. Haywood was arrested by a San Leandro SWAT team at a liquor store located at 7717 Bancroft Avenue in Oakland. He was taken into custody on April 2 at 9:01 a.m.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Haywood’s girlfriend Angel l. Shavers, 21 of Oakland arranged to sell the assault rifle. Shavers was arrested by the liquor store on the same day as Haywood. She is charged with being an accessory after the fact and furnishing an assault weapon.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on April 10. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call the San Leandro Police Department at 510- 577-2740.
