Sac Sheriff issues press release on Rancho Cordova homicide investigation

by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office:

“At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received information from the California Highway Patrol regarding a shooting in the area of Sunrise Boulevard at Highway 50. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded and determined an unknown suspect in a vehicle shot into another vehicle. An adult male passenger sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives responded, along with Crime Scene Investigators. At this time, no arrests have been made and this is an active investigation.

Detectives are in the process of obtaining witness statements for a description of a suspect vehicle. No motive is known at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification has been made to next of kin.
