The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has announced the discovery and subsequent dismantling of a suspected drug lab that had been recently abandoned in Dunsmuir.

Deputies responded to the 4100 block of Walnut Street on a report of a possible drug lab on the afternoon of Monday, February 3.

A detective also responded to the scene and discovered items indicating the place had been the site of a concentrated cannabis lab. Additional items suggesting another drug lab, possibly for methamphetamine or other designer drug, were also found.

Additional personnel from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office were called for help in safely clearing out the site.

Chemicals and lab components were seized as evidence.

The Sheriff’s Office also learned that the property had recently been vacated by its tenant. The investigation is on-going.
