Lethal-Force Action Required – Barstow Specialized Detectives Investigate Encounter Near Nevada State Line

BARSTOW – SBSD Barstow Station Deputies received “Armed and Dangerous” report on 1/8/2020 at 4:43 PM – to be on the lookout for a murder suspect, possibly in the Baker area, and driving a silver 2017 Nissan.

As the Deputies and California’s and Nevada’s Highway Patrol Officers scoured the area, CHP located the stopped vehicle on the northbound I-15 Freeway, south of State Line. A high-risk traffic stop ensued.

An officer-involved shooting took place. An unidentified suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

All northbound lanes of the I-15 were shut down during the nearly 22-hour investigation conducted by Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail. Evidence was processed at the scene.

The suspect was positively identified as Madison Adams (27) of Tehachapi. The I-15 northbound lanes opened the next day at 2:45 PM on 1/9/2020.

Due to the ongoing investigation in Case No. DR#082000033 H#2020-001, San Bernardino Sheriff Department Headquarters requires that no additional information be released at this time. ABC23 reports that Adams first killed his mother, 55-year-old Guadalupe Adams, before fleeign toward the border.
