Wonder Valley Homicide: Suspect Arrested After Body Found in Roadway

HIGHLAND, CA — Detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a suspect in connection with the a homicide in Highland. The body of an adult male was discovered in Wonder Valley on Friday, April 10, 2026, after a motorist reported seeing the victim in the roadway on Gammel Road at approximately 9:48 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies located the victim partially seated in an overturned wheelchair and determined he was deceased. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail assumed the investigation after observing trauma to the victim’s body. Investigators concluded that the death had occurred at a different location and the body was subsequently left on the road.

The investigation identified 38-year-old Jimmy Rodriguez of Moreno Valley as a suspect. Detectives determined that the victim and Rodriguez were involved in a physical altercation in the city of Highland, which resulted in the victim’s death. Following the incident, Rodriguez allegedly transported the body to Wonder Valley and left the victim in the roadway.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bail.
