Rape suspect arrest after three victims come forward

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of a sexual assault suspect who was known as a Bay Area nightclub promoter.  Police are charging the 28-year-old male with the attempted rape, forcible rape, and rape of an unconscious person.

According to San Jose Police Officer Gina Tepoorten, “The San Jose Police Department was contacted by three female victims who reported being sexually assaulted by suspect Daniel Moreno.”

The victims began to report to police in November of Moreno sexually assaulting them while they were intoxicated.

Tepoorten said, “On Tuesday, November, 26, 2019, detectives arrested the suspect without incident in San Jose and subsequently booked him into Santa Clara County Jail for Forcible Rape (felony) – Penal Code 261(a)(1), Rape of an Intoxicated Person (felony) – Penal Code 261(a)(3), 2 counts of Rape of an Unconscious Person (felony) – Penal Code 261(a)(4), and Attempted Rape (felony) – Penal Code 220(a)(1).”

San Jose Police detectives are asking anyone with information on these cases or other incidents involving the suspect to contact Detective John Tran of the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit at 408-277-4102.
