DUI driver tries to flee after hitting a residence

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office sent out the following press release following a recent DUI incident.

“​On Saturday, November 23, 2019 at approximately 2241 hours, Sutter County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle colliding into the residential home at 10181 Larkin Road, Live Oak. Witnesses advised the driver of the vehicle was attempting to flee from the scene after the collision.

Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and were able to locate the driver of the vehicle who was positively identified by witnesses. Field Sobriety tests were administered and it was determined that the driver, 20-year-old Live Oak resident Luis Ornelas-Velasquez, was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Ornelas-Velasquez was arrested for driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, having a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and leaving the scene of a traffic collision. Attached is a photo of Ornelas-Velasquez booking photo and a photo of the traffic collision. Ornelas-Velasquez was released on November 24th with a court date.”
