17-year-old Male Trafficking a Minor is Arrested by Human Trafficking Task Force

SAN BERNARDINO – Human Trafficking Task Force investigators took immediate action upon notice on November 13th near 12 PM that a juvenile female was possibly being Trafficked from a hotel on the 100 block of S. E. Street. An assist by members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division provided extensive surveillance saturation at a motel in hopes of locating and identifying the juvenile.

The initiation of surveillance provided Investigators quick results – “a female fitting the description of the juvenile, near an open room door. Investigators also noticed a male frequenting the same room the female was seen near.”

Both anonymous subjects were contacted, resulting in determination that the trafficked subject is a female 17-year-old reported runaway juvenile from San Bernardino County. The male, also 17 years old, is from San Bernardino County as well.

When the female began to exhibit signs of medical distress, an ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Transport to a local hospital provided evaluation and treatment. The male was taken for interview at the Sheriff’s Central Station.

Investigators reported on 11/20/19 that the male’s interview provided information which supported his involvement in the Human Trafficking of the Juvenile female. Placed under arrest, he was transported and booked at County Juvenile Hall for Felony Human Trafficking of a Juvenile, and held without bail.

The victim’s medical treatment culminated in a rescue with immediate services provided. She was then safely released to her family.
The San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force is made up of investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, Ontario Police Department, Redlands Police Department, California State Parole, Office of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
