Man Killed in 3AM After-Party Street Brawl

CHINO HILLS – A 3:09 AM, 10/27/19 report of fighting in the street brought quick response to the 11300 block of Brunswick Lane in the unincorporated area of Montclair. Arriving SBSD – Chino Hills Police Department Deputies encountered a man in front of a residence, suffering from several stab wounds.

The victim, ID’d as Daniel Ornelas (27) of Pomona, was administered life-saving measures while transported to a local hospital. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Specialized Homicide Detail took over the investigation of the ruckus. Ivan Gutierrez (22) of Ontario was ID’d as “the suspect responsible for the death of Daniel Ornelas,” said Detective Eric Ogaz. “The suspect and victim were attending a party near the incident location before the fight occurred.”

Homicide Investigators located Gutierrez near the crime scene, and arrested him for PC 187. The suspect was booked into West Valley Detention Center.

At this time, there is no motive for this tragic occurrence.
