Fairfield man arrested in connection to home invasion in Davis

A Fairfield man has been arrested in connection to a home invasion in Davis early last month.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Drake Drive at around 10:30 AM on Friday, October 11, where the learned that a woman had walked into her house and heard noises coming from upstairs.

The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old John Ferinand Scharff, reportedly came downstairs and told her he was armed with a gun, though it was never seen nor displayed, then fled to an adjacent parking lot. There, police say, he dropped a bag containing jewelry, computers, and other items he’d taken from the woman’s home.

Officers quickly caught up with him and took him into custody after a brief foot chase.

He has since been booked at the Yolo County Jail.
