Garden Grove man accused of illegal marijuana cultivation & stealing electricity

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Detectives from the local police department’s Crime Suppression Unit have arrested a man on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation as of late last week.

On Monday, September 17, following up on a tip, detectives conducted a search of a residence on the 16000 block of Sycamore, where they discovered a fully operational marijuana grow operation.

311 marijuana plants were seized during the search.

It was also determined that the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Chinh Le of Garden Grove, had stolen approximately $14,000 worth of bypassed electricity to power the operation.

He has been booked at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and theft of utilities, the latter being a felony.
