On the afternoon of September 3rd Tulare County Sheriff Deputies received a call about a shooting victim in block 10100 of Avenue 352 in Visalia. Upon arrival, deputies saw the body of 56-year old Tony Dragt in the middle of the road. He had been shot multiple times and was deceased.

Homicide detectives quickly identified the suspect as 26-year old Jorge Rivera. Rivera had been an employee of Dragt Dairy since May of 2018. In June of this year, he stopped showing up to work and started harassing the Dragt family.

Employees of Dragt Dairy told investigators Rivera had been at the dairy the day of the murder, asking for Tony. Surveillance footage from the Dragt and surrounding dairies corroborated Rivera’s car had been at the dairies.

Rivera’s cellphone was tracked heading south on Highway 99 toward Bakersfield. Undercover detectives began surveillance to spot Rivera’s car, which they did about 9:15 PM near Richgrove. He was pulled over near County Line Road and Highway 99. Four guns were located in his car and he was placed under arrest.

As of September 6th, Rivera remains in the Tulare County Jail where he was booked on September 4th.
