MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect who entered a 24-hour fitness and assaulted a woman while she showered at the gym.  Police are asking for the public’s help in possibly identifying other victims assaulted by the suspect.

According to Mountain View Police, “Around 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers responded to reports of an attempted sexual assault in the women’s locker room at the gym, located on the 500 block of Showers Drive.”

When the suspect, 41-year-old transient Damon Quincy Jones, entered the front lobby to leave, employees tried to stop the suspect before police arrived, but were unable to do so.

Mountain View Police Officers responded to the area and located a possible suspect matching the description given by the staff and the female victim.  The female victim said that the suspect had tried to feminize his voice.

Jones was detained and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for the attempted sexual assault. Jones is also suspected of attempting to assault another woman at the 24-hour fitness Sport just behind the 24-hour fitness SuperSport. The victim, in that case, reported that a black male suspect had entered the women’s locker room near the showers. The police were not called in that incident.

Anyone who may be a victim of Jones, or knows someone who may be a victim of Jones, is encouraged to reach out to Detective Robert Medina at robert.medina@mountainview.gov.
