CALEXICO — Border Patrol agents have announced the arrest of a Sureno gang member last Saturday afternoon.

Just before 3 PM, agents on patrol witnessed a man illegally entering the U.S. about 12 miles east of the Calexico Port of Entry. He was promptly arrested and booked at the El Centro Station.

A subsequent records check revealed that the man, a 35-year-old Mexican national, had previously been charged and convicted for shooting at an occupied dwelling, for which he received a ten-year prison sentence in California.

He also admitted to being a member of the Surenos gang, and had previously been deported from the United States in 2014.
