BISHOP — The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of a man suspected of stabbing two people this past Sunday.

Just before 2 PM on August 25th, deputies responded to the area of Red Hill and Ed Powers Roads to speak with an adult woman who said she’d been attacked with a sharp object, sustaining injuries to her hand and neck.

Deputies also learned there’d been a second victim at a home on Rocking K — an elderly man who was later taken by ambulance to Northern Inyo Hospital.

Interviews with the victims and witnesses identified a man by the name of Robert “Roy” Horton as the primary suspect in the attacks.

Officials from multiple agencies searched the surrounding area and even initiated a CodeRED prompting residents to keep an eye out, but Horton was nowhere to be found.

Then, at around 10 that night, a resident on Running Iron called dispatch to report finding a man matching Horton’s description sleeping in a bedroom at their home. However, the man fled upon being discovered.

Horton is described as a Native American male standing approximately 5′ 5″ and weighing around 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

As of the morning of August 27th, his whereabouts are still unknown.
