Mendocino Sheriff: Wanted suspect jumps out of moving vehicle during chase

UKIAH — A suspect wanted on several additional warrants was arrested with the help of a K-9 officer after jumping out of a vehicle during a police chase.

Just after 9 PM on August 7th, a Mendocino County Sheriff’s K-9 deputy was was utilized to assist Ukiah PD with a traffic stop on the 1100 block of East Gobbi Street.

The suspect — later identified as 42-year-old Russell Taylor and wanted on multiple warrants — did not yield to officers and, soon thereafter, jumped out of the vehicle during the ensuing chase.

The deputy chased Taylor on foot and ultimately deployed his K-9 partner to assist with the arrest.

Taylor is now in custody on warrants for: robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and resisting arrest, among others. He also faces a new charge of resisting arrest.
