Milpitas – The Milpitas Police Department made an arrest of a former uniformed officer. The suspect had reportedly filed a police report in which made false claims during his statement regarding how damage to his police cruiser occurred.

The department was aware that 24-year-old Victor Madarang had worked with the department for over the past year and was looking over the incident that occurred back in December of 2018.

The arrest came when Madarang came forward and surrendered at police headquarters, explaining he had falsified the report. Madarang was charged with a $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in Superior Court on the matter.

The Milpitas Police Department’s non-emergency number is (408) 586-2400. All emergencies should be reported by calling 9-1-1. Additionally, information can be given anonymously by calling the Crime Tip Hotline at (408) 586-2500 or via the Milpitas Police Department Website at: http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/crimetip
