A 1998 Toyota Camry was reported stolen out of Central Fresno. On Monday, November 26th, the car was spotted by law enforcement, parked near Fulton and Tulare Street. Detectives from the Career Criminal Auto Theft Team witnessed a male and female get into the Camry and drive off.

Detectives called in air support and Fresno Police Department’s helicopter was soon flying over the vehicle leading detectives to the suspects’ destination.

Trevino’s arrest

Two passengers exited the vehicle when they reached Clay and Abby Avenue. With the vehicle stopped, detectives attempted to approach the car but the driver shifted to reverse and hit the gas, striking the two passengers he had just let out of the car, as well as the detectives’ car.

The driver was stopped and detained before he could shift to drive and get away.

A search of the driver’s identity, 32-year old Rick Trevino, came back to show he was on Post Release Community Supervision for a weapons related conviction.

He was booked into the Fresno County Jail for violating his probation, and for new charges including felony hit-and-run, felony DUI, possession of shaved keys, and resisting arrest.
