Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Suspect on Child Pornography Charges

SAN RAFAEL — Following several months of investigation, authorities arrested a man on several charges related to child pornography. Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputies locked him up on November 20th.

Authorities launched an investigation in August. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the Sheriff’s Office concerning nefarious activities involving minors.

Several search warrants were executed in Marin County, while authorities attempted to identify a suspect. This led authorities to a home located on Skyline Terrace in the Lucas Valley-Marinwood area of San Rafael.

Inside the home, investigators located child pornography on a computer, and gathered a substantial amount of evidence.

Then and there, the suspect identified as 25-year-old David Hostrup was arrested, and subsequently booked at Marin County Jail.

Hostrup is looking at four charges concerning child pornography. His charges include possession or control of child pornography, and a related enhancement charge.

In addition, Hostrup faces a separate charge for using a minor under 16 years for obscene use. His fourth charge concerns distributing or sending harmful matter to a minor.

Meanwhile, the investigation involving Hostrup continues. Authorities are still tracking down the identity of additional victims, who are not residents of Marin County.
