Violent Assault at the Graton Casino Lands Victim in Intensive Care

ROHNERT PARK – A violent assault occurred at the Graton Casino on the night of September 15. Deputies received a call concerning a fight around 11:30 and responded to the scene.

The fight apparently had ended when they arrived, but their investigation continued.

As best as they could determine, several men in an SUV hit a nearby truck with the SUV’s door. The truck’s owner is 44-year-old Morgan Lewis Jr.

Apparently during the argument someone pushed Lewis’ girlfriend to the ground. The men also punched Lewis in the face.

However, “neither Lewis nor his girlfriend requested prosecution for the assault as they were not sure exactly which person had assaulted them. ”

No arrests ensured and deputies left the casino parking lot…..but not for long. Deputies returned ten minutes later concernign another fight. As it turns oput, Lewis spotted one of the men from the earlier fight.

Lewis shoved that man backwards to the ground and the man hit his head on the concrete sidewalk. The man became “unconscious and unresponsive.” An ambulance took the 57-year-old Santa Rosa man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives arrest Lewis and charged him with felony assault casuing great bodily injury. Since the arrest Lewis posted $35,000 bail.
