SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has arrested an elderly suspect in the death of a 67-year-old woman. According to police, “On Thursday, September 13, 2018, at about 5:17 PM, San Jose police officers responded to a welfare check in the 1000 block of Terra Noble Way on an adult female with visible injuries and non-responsive.”

Homicide investigators soon realized that the brutal beating of the elderly woman was suspicious.  Investigators identified Anthony Aiello as the stepfather to victim Karen Navarra. It is also believed that during an ongoing argument between the two, Aiello began to bludgeon the woman to death.

Investigators were able to piece together evidence at the scene leading to the arrest of the 90-year-old suspect.  According to Officer Gina Tepoorten, “On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, the suspect was arrested in San Jose by the San Jose Police Department’s Covert Response Unit.”

Aiello was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony homicide and is currently in custody without the possibility of release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Mike Montonye or Detective Brian Meeker of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.
