Pedestrian Robbed at Gunpoint 1:00 a.m. Sunday Morning

PALO ALTO – The PAPD reports a pedestrian robbed at gunpoint that occurred on the 900 block of El Camino Real. The victim described the incident that occurred near the adjacent to the parking lot of Palo Alto High School.

The robbery occurred early Sunday morning and was not reported by the victim until Monday September 10. A male suspect approached the victim asking him for directions. The suspect, described as a White or Hispanic male standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, produced a black handgun from his waistband and demanded the victim’s cell phone and wallet.

According to the PAPD’s Captain Zach Perron, “When the victim stopped to answer him, the suspect produced a black handgun from his jacket. He pushed the victim off of the sidewalk where the robbery would be more difficult for passersby to view.”

Investigators do not believe this case is related to another armed street robbery that occurred on August 21.  That robbery occurred on University Avenue after two men riding bicycles robbed a man at gunpoint. Investigators describe the two suspects in the incident as black males.

“Anyone with information about this incident can call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  E-mail anonymous tips to paloalto@tipnow.org or sent via text message or voicemail to 650-383-8984.”
