REDWOOD CITY – The suspect put a rock in a sock and used it as a weapon. That choice landed him in jail.

On July 8 RCPD received a call about three males involved in a fight.

Responding officers discovered a man bleeding from his head.  Witnesses relayed that the suspect walked up, struck the victim with the sock/rock and fled.

Video surveillance confirmed their story.  The victim worked on his parked vehicle prior to the incident. Officers discovered the bloody sock, and blood in the street.

Officers arrested 56-year-old Thomas Waddell. He recently came out of prison “after serving 12 years for a prior assault with a deadly weapon case.”

His charges in this case are assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon and violation of parole.
